“Grist for the mill” refers to material that can be put to use, something that can be processed into value or understanding. Historically, it comes from grain brought to a mill to be ground into flour, representing potential that becomes usable output.

Here at The Grist we follow the same philosophy. Information is raw material.

We break it down examine it and hopefully give you something cleaner. Turning the signal to noise ratio more towards signal and away from noise. A lot of our focus is on technology, privacy, politics, and civil liberties. But nothing is off the table. If it matters, it’s worth looking at.
